The Emmaus House of Apostolate is a place of compassion and hope, for those who're impoverished and nearing the end of their lives. It is located in Malolos, Bulacan. Has been providing support to the vulnerable members of society since its establishment in 1984. This residential neighborhood was founded with the purpose of serving Christ and extending love to those in need. Throughout the years it has served as a sanctuary, for individuals requiring assistance.
A Humble Beginning
The seeds of Emmaus House of Apostolate were sown on November 22, 1984, under the guidance of Rev. Florentino Concepcion, a Catholic priest inspired by the compassion of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and the vision of Bishop Cirilo R. Almario Jr. The initial group of indigent patients, abandoned by their families and burdened with mounting medical bills, found solace in a rented house near the railways in Catmon, Malolos, where Fr. Florentino, affectionately known as Fr. Boyet, welcomed them with open arms.
A Growing Need for Space
As more patients sought refuge at Emmaus House of Apostolate, the need for a larger space became evident. The apostolate's faith in the providential care of the Heavenly Father never wavered, and with the support of the community, they moved to their second home in Barihan, Malolos, Bulacan. The apostolate became a haven for individuals such as TB-stricken outpatients, sore-infected street-bums, and those rejected by their families. The spirit of the apostolate was not confined to the walls of the house; it extended its reach to embrace the loneliest and most marginalized members of society.
The Birth of a Permanent Home
In 1985, a significant milestone was achieved when the generous Caparas family bequeathed their 1,527 square meter property in Caingin, Malolos, Bulacan to serve as the permanent site of Emmaus House of Apostolate. With the combined efforts of the apostolate's dedicated workers, the house was built and continues to stand as a testament to love and service.
Extending a Helping Hand
Emmaus House of Apostolate has become a lifeline for many who find themselves in desperate circumstances. The apostolate depends greatly on the support of volunteers who selflessly offer their time and services to meet the administrative, dietary, sanitary, and medical needs of the residents. However, the apostolate's mission goes beyond providing for physical needs; it aims to restore lost souls to the Father's fold and kindle a deeper hunger for a meaningful relationship with God.
Reaching Out to the Poorest of the Poor
The spirit of the apostolate knows no boundaries. It extends its reach to those seriously deprived materially, spiritually, or socially. The apostolate has embraced individuals such as lonely prisoners in search of acceptance and justice, indigents burdened by perpetual worries about their healthcare, families living in squatter areas struggling to secure their next meal, and wayward youth yearning for attention and a sense of belonging. The apostolate hopes to open doors for those who are in the dark, guiding them to know God and experience His presence in their lives.
Emmaus House of Apostolate stands as a testament to the power of compassion and love for the poorest of the poor and dying destitutes. Since its establishment, it has been a haven for those in need, providing not only physical support but also spiritual nourishment. With the unwavering dedication of its workers and the support of the community, the apostolate continues to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. Let us be inspired by their example and strive to extend our own acts of kindness and compassion to those around us.
